The conduct of a madman: a madman does not have to act according to conventions towards friends or strangers, nobility or peasants, but acts without any regard or attachment, just living without having a destination. So too, Dharma practitionners, when exerting themselves in practice, until they attain the signs and spiritual powers, should not give over to the desire to be with a nice person, the bias of a pleasant facade, their own desire to save face or any kind of dualistic clinging. After the experiences and signs have arisen, there will be an equal appreciation of everything.
La conduite du fou: le fou n'a pas à agir selon les conventions par rapport aux amis ou aux étrangers, aux nobles ou aux paysans, mais (au contraire) agit sans la moindre considération ou le moindre attachement, vivant sans aucun but. De même, lorsqu'ils s'adonnent à la pratique et jusqu'à ce qu'ils parviennent aux signes et aux pouvoirs spirituels, les pratiquants du Dharma ne doivent pas céder au désir d'être avec une jolie personne, aux préférences pour des apparences plaisantes, à leur propre désir de sauver la face ou à quelque autre saisie dualiste. Lorsque seront apparus signes et expériences, il y aura une appréciation égale pour toute chose.
