Le seul refuge immuable -- The only unchanging refuge

Reflecting on impermanence is a very important preparatory practice, for the more we see impermanence as the natural state of affairs, the more we see that relying on phenomena to provide a true refuge is not wise. There is continuity, but it is a continuity of change. Since we were children everything has changed in our lives. Our thoughts and feelings have changed so often, the shapes of our bodies have changed, the kind of activities we do have changed... The only unchanging refuge is our own nature.

Réfléchir à l'impermanence est une pratique préparatoire très importante car plus nous considérons l'impermanence comme l'état normal des choses, plus nous voyons que s'appuyer sur les phénomènes pour obtenir un vrai refuge n'est pas une bonne idée. Il y a continuité mais c'est une continuité de changements. Depuis que nous sommes tout petit, tout a changé dans notre vie. Nos pensées et nos émotions ont changé si souvent, la forme de notre corps a changé, le type des activités que nous avons a changé... Le seul refuge immuable est notre nature propre.
