Practice of the deity -- Pratique de la déité

Practice in a simple way like this: First, remind yourself of being the deity, thinking, “I am Vajrakilaya.” Then, recite the mantra, OM BENZA KILI KILAYA..., or simply OM AH HUNG. Next, recognize that the one who imagines the deity and chants the mantra is none other than your own mind.
Without this mind, you could not visualize the form of the deity. Without mind, you could not chant the mantra. When you examine what it is that imagines or recites, recognizing your own mind, you see that it is an indivisible, empty cognizance, and not in some roundabout way. For example, if you want to touch space with your finger, how far do you need to move your finger in order to touch space? Doesn’t it touch it the moment you first stretch your finger out? In the same way, the moment you recognize, you come in contact with the completion stage—the empty and cognizant nature of mind. You recognize it immediately. Thus, while seeing the nature of mind, you can carry on chanting the mantra.
