on the Dzogchen path -- sur la voie du Dzogchen

If one practices the incredibly rare and profound teaching of Dzogchen, nondual Dzogchen, with an intention like this: “I want Dzogchen, I want enlightenment. I’m going to get it in this life,” and there is a great deal of grasping, pushy, small-minded selfishness, how can there be any Dzogchen? This is the very antithesis of the vast, unconditional openness of Dzogchen. This is how we stray from the true path and become wild practitioners and even become crazy. If self-clinging, self-cherishing, and clinging to the reality of things remains strong, how can there be any genuine Dzogchen, which is the true natural state of freedom, openness, and primordial perfection?

Si l'on pratique le Dzogchen, incroyablement rare et profond,  le Dzogchen non-duel, avec un intention du type: "Je veux le Dzogchen, je veux l'éveil, je vais l'obtenir en cette vie!" et qu'il y a beacoup de saisie, d'égoisme étroit d'esprit et exigeant, comment peut-il y avoir un quelconque Dzogchen? C'est la totale antithèse de l'ouverture vaste et inconditionnelle du Dzogchen. C'est comme cela qu'on s'éloigne de la voie véritable et que l'on devient des pratiquants sauvages, et même que l'on devient fou. Si la saisie à un je, l'orgueil et la saisie à la réalité des choses demeurent puissants, comment peut-il y avoir un quelconque Dzogchen, qui est le véritable état naturel de la liberté, de l'ouverture et de la perfection primordiale?

the desire is the obstacle -- le désir est l'obstacle

The state of craving for anything blocks all deeper experience. Nothing of value can happen to a mind which knows exactly what it wants. For nothing the mind can visualise and want is of much value.

L'état de désir insatiable bloque toute expérience plus profonde. Rien de bon ne peut advenir à un esprit qui connaît exactement ce qu'il veut. Car rien de ce que l'esprit peut concevoir et vouloir n'est de quelque importance.

Along yanas -- Sur (le sentier) des yanas

The vajrayana journey is short and concentrated, but this does not mean that we bypass the hinayana and mahayana. We never really abandon the previous yanas, but we constantly go back and forth.We keep trying to understand ourselves by realizing the gentleness of shamatha, the wakefulness of vipashyana, the reasonableness of lojong, and the greater warriorship of the bodhisattva path. Beyond that, we have to be willing to surrender ourselves into the state of intoxication of vajrayana.But we cannot make ourselves intoxicated; it will only happen spontaneously. So working with the basic approaches of the three yanas takes place spontaneously and always.

Le voyage du vajrayana est court et concentré mais cela ne signifie pas que l'on court-circuite hinayana et mahayana. On n'abandonne jamais vraiment les yanas précédents mais on y fait constamment des allez-retours. On persiste à essayer de se comprendre soi-même en réalisant la bonté de shamata, la vivacité de vipashana, le caractère raisonnable de lojong et l'éminente bravoure de la voie du bodhisattva. Au-delà de ça, nous devons aspirer à nous abandonner dans l'état d'intoxication du vajrayana. Mais nous ne pouvons pas nous intoxiquer nous-mêmes, cela survient spontanément. Aussi le travail avec les approches basiques des trois yanas survient spontanément et continuellement.

perfect and complete -- parfaite et achevée

Truth is perfect and complete in itself. It is not something newly discovered; it has always existed. Truth is not far away; it is ever present. It is not something to be attained since not one of your steps leads away from it.

La vérité  est parfaite et achevée en elle-même. Ce n'est pas quelque chose découverte récemment, ça a toujours existé. La vérité n'est pas loin, elle est toujours présente. Ce n'est pas quelque chose à atteindre car aucun de tes pas ne t'en éloigne.

the best teaching -- le meilleur enseignement

All of the various types of teachings and spiritual paths are related to the different capacities of understanding that different individuals have. There does not exist, from an absolute point of view, any teaching which is more perfect or effective than another. A teaching's value lies solely in the inner awakening which an individual can arrive at through it. If a person benefits from a given teaching, for that person that teaching is the supreme path, because it is suited to his or her nature and capacities.

Toutes les différentes sortes d'enseignements et de voies spirituelles sont en rapport avec les différentes capacités de compréhension des différents individus. D'un point de vue absolu, il n'existe pas d'enseignement plus parfait ou efficace qu'un autre. La valeur d'un enseignement réside uniquement dans l'éveil intérieur auquel un individu peut parvenir grâce à lui. Si une personne tire un bénéfice d'un enseignement donné, pour cette personne, cet enseignement est la voie suprême car il est adapté à sa nature et à ses capacités.

the open path -- la voie ouverte

The open path is a matter of working purely with what is, of giving up altogether the fear that something may not work, that something may end in failure. One has to give up the paranoia that one might not fit into situations, that one might be rejected. One purely deals with life as it is.

La voie ouverte consiste à travailler purement avec ce qui est, à lâcher complètement la peur que quelque chose puisse ne pas fonctionner, que quelque chose puisse se terminer par un échec. Il faut abandonner la paranoia où l'on redoute que l'on ne soit pas à la hauteur des situations, que l'on soit rejeté. Il s'agit de s'accorder purement avec la vie telle qu'elle est.
