After spending many years in retreat in different holy places of Himalaya, and after a 3 years retreat in Tso Pema, C. R. Lama taught in Visvabharati University of Shantiniketan, in West Bengal, where he was given the Chair of tibetology until 1987. During these years, Rinpoche involved himself very much in the welcome of the first exiled tibetans. He met many times Jawaharlal Nehru, the main ruler of India and H. H. the Dalaï Lama and was a precious help for the preservation of tibetan traditions. He spent also much time in Kalimpong where he was very close to H. H. Dudjom Rinpoche. His son Tulku Urgyen told me once: "Dudjom Rinpoche was often coming home when we were in Kalimpong. He drank tea with my father and they could talk for hours. I saw him like a kind uncle and didn't realize that one of the highest lamas of the century was honouring us by his presence."
 That's also in Kalimpong that he met Tulku Thondup, who's monastery (Dodrupchen) was very close to Khordong Gompa in Kham. He kindly invited him to live with his family which was a great help for Tulku Rinpoche who had difficult times after escaping from Tibet.

C. R. Lama was also among the first lamas who welcomed the westerners interested in tibetan spirituality. He taught them the basis of his langage, gave them teachings and empowerments,  and some of these pioneers are now well-known teachers, translators or practitionners. (to be followed)...

Après avoir passé de nombreuses années en retraite dans différents lieux saints de l’Himalaya, et fait un retraite de trois ans à Tso Pèma, Tchimé Rigdzin Rinpotché enseigna à l’université Visvabharati de Shantiniketan, au Bengale Occidental, où il prit la direction de la chaire de tibétologie jusqu’en 1987. Durant cette période, Rinpotché participa activement à l’accueil des premiers tibétains en exil. Il rencontra à de nombreuses reprises Nehru, le principal dirigeant du pays à cette époque, et S.S. le Dalaï Lama, et il fut d’une aide précieuse pour la sauvegarde des traditions tibétaines. Il passa aussi beaucoup de temps à Kalimpong où il fut très proche de Sa sainteté Dudjom Rinpoche. Son fils Tulku Urgyen me disait un jour: "Dudjom Rinpoche venait souvent à la maison quand nous étions à Kalimpong. Il prenait le thé et pouvait discuter avec mon père pendant des heures. Je le voyais alors comme un gentil oncle et je ne réalisais pas que l'un des plus éminents lama de ce siècle nous faisait l'honneur de sa présence." C'est aussi à Kalimpong que Rinpoche rencontra Tulku Thondup, dont le monastère (Dodrupchen) était très proche de Khordong Gompa. Rinpoche l'invita à vivre avec sa famille ce qui aida beaucoup Tulku Rinpoche qui vivait des moments difficiles après sa fuite du Tibet. C. R. Lama fut aussi parmi les premiers lamas à recevoir en Inde les occidentaux attirés par la spiritualité du pays des neiges Il leur enseigna les bases de sa langue, leur donna des enseignements et des initiations, et certains sont aujourd’hui devenus des enseignants ou des traducteurs et pratiquants reconnus.
