The watcher and the watched -- L'observateur et l'observé

When it seems like there is a watcher, look into this watcher and it will disappear. Maybe this watcher is just a concept. On the other hand, maybe you have to say that there is one when you are a beginner. You can say that there is a kind of watcher because you haven't really become acquainted with the non-duality of watcher and watched. It is said in both Mahamudra and Dzogchen teachings that it should be like space, free from both watcher and watched. But as long as the watcher and the watched have not become mingled, sometimes it feels like there is a watcher and something being watched. It is like that, and why not, unless you are like Garab Dorje, who immediately mingled watcher and watched and was beyond distraction, and who was a sentient being when he sat down and a Buddha when he stood up again. Other than him, everybody else takes years to get the same stage where there is no watcher and watched.

Lorsqu'il te semble qu'il y a un observateur, regarde en cet observateur et il disparaîtra. Peut être que cet observateur n'est qu'un concept. Au contraire, si tu es débutant, peut être que tu as besoin de dire qu'il y en a un. On peut dire qu'il y a une sorte d'observateur parce qu'on ne s'est pas vraiment familiarisé avec la non-dualité de l'observateur et de l'observé. Dans les enseignements du Mahamudra comme dans ceux du Dzogchen, il est dit que ça doit être comme un espace dénué d'observateur et d'observé. Mais tant qu'observateur et observé n'ont pas fusionné, parfois il semble qu'il y a un observateur et un objet d'observation. C'est comme ça, et pourquoi pas, tant que tu n'es pas semblable à Garab Dorje, qui a immédiatement fusionné observateur et observé et qui était au-delà de toute distraction, qui était un être sensible lorsqu'il s'assit et un Bouddha lorsqu'il se releva. Pour tout autre que lui, ça prend des années à parvenir à ce même niveau, où il n'y a ni observateur ni objet d'observation.
